Just received your wee parcel with the Cds and nearly bawled my eyes out for joy, took me right back to the Oisín tours, from Co.Roscommon (my first gig) to Skagen and all over Ger.. Geraldine's voice is still one of the best I ever heard and Shay I'd recognize your strumming anywhere among a million guitars, goes right down to the core, your music brings pure joy, then and now!
So glad to see (hear) you're still playing and wish I could be there.

Hello Shay,
My new husband and I spent a week in Doolin on our honeymoon, in October. We were at McGann's every night because of your music. Thank you so much for all the wonderful music and memories. The music in other parts of Ireland, could not compare to your music in Doolin.
I just mailed some pics for you - hope you enjoy. Thank you again...we can't wait to come back and visit McGann's. It was our favorite place. And hopefully our first born will be named Shamus, I told my husband it was a sign - haha.
Thank you again,
Shy Bundy |

Theresa,
we'll see when I will have time for a few days rest and muse, but wait four years like you Theresa are too long. Are all sidewalks in the winter folded and left the inhabitants of Doolin in the well-deserved vacation? Is there anybody in the winter? |

Hello all together,
it was an unforgetable time with you. The time in Doolin and the evenings with you in the pub are now unfortunately gone. The songs of Geraldine MacGowan and Shay are songs that pass through the middle of the heart in the soul of the listener and set up there a little warm nest of memories. Thanks for that.
Greetings from Hamburg.

Went to Doolin on a stag weekend a bit apprehensive 'bout the possibility of fun. Thanks to all the guys at Mcganns for proving me wrong. Craic was mighty, people and music were great and the food was to die for. 27 lads and all still raving 'bout the food. Absolutely excellent! |

This is quite possibly one of the greatest pubs there is. A true genuine Irish experience set in the tranquil surroundings of mystical Doolin. Great food, great craic and great music. A tourist attraction in its own right. |

Dear Folks at McGann's.
I had the great pleasure of staying at your Pub on the weekend of Nov. 14 and 15th, 2008.
I play session and folk music, i brought my mandolin to Doolin with me and I was very fortunate to be able to play and sing some songs with the session band on Friday and Saturday.
I had a room upstairs so i went up and grabbed my mandolin, on Friday i sang and played, "Wild Mountain Thyme", "Dirty Old Town" and Steve Earl's "Johnny Come Lately". the players were friendly, I don't know all their names, i know Geraldine was there and a tall fellow with a dark watch cap on, I kept calling him Kevin, don't know if that was his name or not.
On Saturday there was a different tall fella hosting the session, he had long hair and glasses, the musicians and the folks in the crowd were all friendly and apreciative, did my heart good.
I play Irish and Country and Western here in Illinois, I would like to return to Clare with some of my country music playing friends, steel guitar etc. and play some pubs in Clare. Take care McGann's I hope to visit again soon. You have a very charming and kind team. i would love to have you hear my song i wrote about Clare "Illinois I can Hear you Calling" Story about an American in Clare longing for Illinois, yet in love with a girl from Co. Clare,
Take care, Andy Mc. |

I was sitting at home and had a memory of me and my girl's time at McGann's in Doolin. I immediately hopped up and headed down to my local shop and purchased a bottle of Jameson to have a hot whiskey....like the one I had there. Cheers and we'll see you again. |

We promised pictures when at the pub in Doolin. Oh well, it has only been a year and a half but here are some. We will never forget the lovely time we had with you both. We found these two nights to be the most memorable and genuine of our entire trip to Ireland. We found Ireland to be the most beautiful place we have been.

Hi Séan regarding your enquiry from August last, the singer/guitar player was James Reilly ex “Solas”. He has moved back to Dublin and is now playing with Gerry Phelan a good friend of ours from our days in the band “Oisin”. James and his wife Heather spent a few days with us. James is a very talented player, you can have a look @ myspace.com/jamesrileyguitar to see what he is up to. Thanks for taking the time & interest to write.
Regards Shay MacGowan

Hello Shay!
Thank you very much for the songs! If you can, and want to, you may send many more! We heard also some faster songs you were playing…mostly acoustic. Can you tell me if this style has a name?
We had a great time in Doolin. It’s was our 4th time in Ireland. First time was 6 years ago and we ended our trip in Doolin with a fantastic night in McGann´s pub. So, this year, we came back and spent our last two nights in Doolin, again fantastic!
We will come back for sure!
Best regards,
Hendrik & Vanessa

To my friends at McGanns,
I'm sorry that the files are so large. I don't have a clue as to format my camera to take photos differently, but I hope that these might help your website. I am writing to you in response to Geraldine's email and look forward to seeing you all soon. Thank you all for giving me the most memorable nights of my life. Because of your hospitality and music, there is not another place on this planet that I look forward to, or will, visit again. See you all soon.
Respectfully, Marshall Lally

I was at the pub Wednesday and Thursday nights of last week and there was a special guest singer. What was the name of the guest? Was it a person from the group Solas?
Thanks for you help,
